Sunday Mornings

MS:DIG, HS:DIG, CONFIRMATION

MIDDLE SCHOOL DIG (Grades 6-8)

Teacher: Jeff Wade, Keren Swedberg

An elementary school teacher by day, super carpenter & fly fisherman by night and weekend, Jeff loves working with middle schoolers. He does a great job of connecting with the kids, knowing them as individuals, and helping them connect with the subject on a personal level. He's fun, real, and you (or your kid) are gonna love being in his class. Keren brings a great dimension to the class as an assistant who can break off with just the girls every other week to make it even more personal!

Subject: Major New Testament Events & Characters

This fall, the middle schoolers are studying some of the major/key events and characters of the New Testament. The goal is to help students understand what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and part of God's Kingdom by the example of inspiring figures of the New Testament.

HIGH SCHOOL DIG (Grades 9-12)

Teacher: Jim Murphy

The Pastor of Student Life at the Covenant by day, super star wrestler by night (well, at home with his daughters, that is), Jim absolutely loves teaching the high school class on Sundays! The kids are very smart and into the discussion, the subjects are always interesting, and the time usually flies pretty quickly. But, if you come to this class...be prepared for "Jumbo Shrimp!" Inquire within :-).

Subject: The Truth Project

Current High School Study: The Truth Project In a recent study, the Barna Research Group revealed a stunning statistic that continues to reverberate throughout the evangelical world. Only 9 percent of professing Christians have a biblical worldview.

Because of this, today's believers live very similarly to non-believers. A personal sense of significance is rarely experienced, we spend our money and time on things that fail to satisfy and we begin to wonder what life's ultimate purpose really is. We are, in short, losing our bearings as a people and a nation.

To counter this slide within the body of Christ, we are launching one of the most ambitious and powerful projects in the history of our ministry—Focus on the Family's The Truth Project.

The Truth Project is a DVD-based small group curriculum comprised of 12 one-hour lessons taught by Dr. Del Tackett. This home study is the starting point for looking at life from a biblical perspective. Each lesson discusses in great detail the relevance and importance of living the Christian worldview in daily life.

CONFIRMATION (8TH GRADE & 9th GRADE)

Confirmation Curriculum:

OVERVIEW

Confirmation is a great opportunity for students to dig deeper into the Word and explore the truths of God's promises in the Old Testament (1st year) and the New Testament (2nd year) in a more structured, intentional way. There are three primary objectives of Confirmation:

1. Help students come to a good understanding of the flow and major themes and principles of the entire Bible.

2. Help students affirm in their own hearts that they do, indeed, believe and trust in the Word of God as their guide to life and in Jesus Christ as their Lord.

3. Help the Church and its leadership be able to confirm that there is evidence of a genuine faith relationship with Jesus Christ in the lives of these students.

FIRST YEAR CONFIRMATION (8TH GRADE)

Teacher: Gale Struthers
Subject: Old Testament

An experienced instructor of Old Testament Studies by day, secret CIA agent by night (just kidding), Gale loves kids, loves the Word, and is excited for the opportunity to share the joy of discovering the Old Testament with First Year Confirmation students!

SECOND YEAR CONFIRMATION (9TH GRADE)

Teacher: Dean Nelson
Subject: New Testament & Beyond

The Pastor of Congregational Life by day, a sly practical joker by night (not kidding!), Dean loves teaching Confirmation! He's been teaching this class for over ten years and really enjoys seeing students come to life in their faith as they learn and grow in the Word!
